COMPLETLY DEAD MACBOOK PRO (RIP?)

My Macbook pro laptop was working perfectly fine (small glitches here and there) but for the most part very efficient , I went to sleep one day, woke up, and the next day its completely dead, attempted to power it on no response (no chimes, no fan booting sound etc)- however the green indicator on my magsafe charger would show green, other than that It is completely dead. Took it to a friend of mine and he removed the battery and it was able to power up briefly - however it would not go past the log in screen- Put the battery back in and now the green indicator on the magsafe charger will not respond - MacBook Pro is completely dead w/ no signs of life . PLEASE HELP - Is it a battery issue? The LED's on the side don't power on or show any green dots for battery life

Mac Pro, OS X Yosemite (10.10.4)
