I'm not able to download or update any app from Apple Store. It remains in waiting stage.

When I'm trying tod download or update any app from the Apple Store It do nothing but remains in waiting stage. later I have to cancel the request. I have tried leaving it as it is for hours but no joy. I'm trying this on my iPhone 5 and there is no error what so ever.
