We've tried pretty much everything.
The battery and port was replaced.
Tried about four cables, which work fine with the other phones.
Tried pressing the lock button and home.
It stays on the screen with the red battery after 'charging' for hours.
If the battery was replaced by Apple, that would mean you were given a faulty refurbished device which you should take back and have it replaced again.
If the battery was replaced by non-Apple "experts", go take it up with them. We can't help you and whatever warranty there might have existed is gone. Good luck.
They are not worth driving four hours to be fixed. It didn't have a warranty anyway.
Trying to find him a new phone now, preferably not an iphone. Haha
