transfer imessages from mac to iphone

I lost my iphone and hadn't done a back up in a couple of months, my imessage history is saved on the message feature on my mac though. I have a replacement phone now and everything restored via either the old back up or the icloud, however the imessages didn't transfer. Does anyone know how I can transfer the imessage history from my mac back to the new iphone? Thanks!
