Yosemite 10.10.4 and Netflix Error Code S7361-1253

I have a MacBook Pro (13-inch, Late 2011) and it runs with OS X Yosemite 10.10.4. Before when my laptop was running with 10.10.3 I watched Netflix on Safari all the time but after I updated to 10.10.4 and tried to watch Netflix on Safari I consistently receive this message.User uploaded file

It says that there was an error and the Error Code is S7361-1253. I checked with Netflix about what this error was about and it told me that

"If you get the error code S7361-1253 while watching on your Mac computer, it's typically caused by an unsupported monitor or screen.

Apple only supports playback on internal monitors or through HDCP compatible monitors. Disconnect your computer from your external monitor and try playing a TV show or movie again. If you are able to play without any problems, it's likely that your external monitor does not support HDCP."

I was greatly confused by this because the only display I have ever used is the built in display that is on my MacBook Pro. I have been searching for ways too fix this problem. I have tried to:

  • Restart my laptop
  • Signed out and in of my Netflix account multiple times
  • Check the playback settings with my Netflix account
  • Download Firefox but that failed because I was told to update the browser even after "updating" it about 4 times
  • Download Google Chrome but that failed because I was told to download Silverlight even though it was already installed multiple times
  • Check the Safari plug-ins and enabled the all the plug-ins necessary to use Netflix

I have not contacted Apple Tech-Support or Netflix Support about my problem. I'm not sure whom is to blame but I just really want to get my Netflix up and running again on Safari. I am not of fan of Google Chrome or Firefox and would hate to bail on Safari just to watch Netflix. If anyone has solutions please let me know.

First, make sure you have the latest version of the Silverlight plugin.

Back up all data.

Triple-click anywhere in the line below on this page to select it:

/Library/Application Support/Microsoft/PlayReady/mspr.hds

Right-click or control-click the line and select

Services Reveal in Finder (or just Reveal)

from the contextual menu.* A folder should open with a file named "mspr.hds" selected. Quit the browser if it's running. Move the selected file to the Trash. You may be prompted for your administrator password. Relaunch the browser and test.

*If you don't see the contextual menu item, copy the selected text to the Clipboard by pressing the key combination command-C. In the Finder, select

Go Go to Folder...

from the menu bar and paste into the box that opens by pressing command-V. You won't see what you pasted because a line break is included. Press return.

I've been having the same problem now for sometime but it officially stopped playing Netflix all together it seems like. Previously, I'd get that error code often but could eventually get Netflix to play. Today for some reason (I recently updated my computer) it won't play Netflix at all but I can search and use the website as I would normally.

Anyway, I just followed your instructions and when I pressed "return" after pasting the folder name into the "Go To" function, nothing happened. And when I tried to play Netflix, it wasn't working.

Any idea on what's going on?

Thanks!
