Have you checked to see if they are still on the drive. If so restoring a pre-upgrade copy of your library should sort things out.
See Empty/corrupt iTunes library after upgrade/crash.

Hi
I have the same problem.
I normally used to have the list of authors to sort my books.
However after the update the books themselves do not appear in this view.
At the top right of the iTunes window is a drop down menu. Switching this from Authors to Audiobooks makes all books appear.
There is a problem with the update, a very big one in my opinion, but this for me is a short term work around.
Hope this helps you.
Yep, there is a bug in the authors display.

Thank you for the suggestion. I tried that. The only books that are in my library are the two I was downloading at the same time I was upgrading the software. But that should not have caused everything to disappear. Audible was downloading but did not complete until after iTunes was already finished. I am so confused.
So they have fixed it for individual authors but for "All Authors" there are still no books.
