iPhone 6 Does Not Charge When Phone is On

iPhone 6 "iOS 8.4"

Phone will not charge if I plug the lighting cable in while the phone is on. Lighting cable is not detected.

Phone must be off to charge. Lighting cable must be plugged in before I power off to charge. If lighting cable is plugged in after phone is off, the phone will turn on and will not charge.

If I unplug the lighting cable while the phone is off and charging, the phone will turn on.

If have tried various lighting cables, restarted the phone, restored from backup, cleaned port and received same results.

The phone/port has not been dropped or damaged and has not been subjected to any water or moisture of any kind.

Any thoughts?
