Q: I have deleted 60gb of photos to try create more storage on my macbook pro. Firstly I deleted from iPhoto and then from my trash. Now when I look at the storage the 60gb has just transferred to 'other'. How can I permanently free up space?

My computer has been running very slow and I realised I am almost out of space so I transferred all of my photos to my hard drive. Now I would like to permanently delete them from the computer to free space.

In addition, how can I find out what all the 'other' stuff is other than photos that is taking up lots of storage?

Thank you

MacBook Pro, OS X Yosemite (10.10.3)
