"Shared" section is missing in the sidebar

I would like to connect to an other server and share files. But My Mac Pro can't find any server and additionally the side bar doesn't show the heading "Shared". How can I fix this?

MacBook Pro (Retina, 15-inch, Late 2013), OS X Mavericks (10.9.5)
