I really would like to know if I can change my settings to double click to open a document or site? I have Parkinson and I tend to click when I don't want to. So if I can change the settings to double click with a large interval, that would be very helpful.

I don't think there is a way of doing this without going into terminal ... which I don't advise anyone to do if they have a problem like yours. I am going to sound out opinions in another area and hope someone will come back with an answer.
Open System Preferences, Accessibility, Mouse and Trackpad.
You can adjust the double-click speed slider and spring-loading speed slider.

thanks for your suggestion, but that i did find and already adjusted. But my problem is that with just one click you can open any document or file or site. I would like to change that to a double click, so when i'm working with the mouse I cannot accidently open files or photo's or whatever is on my desktop... because that's what's happening all the time, because sometimes I can't control my movements totally. So with two clicks set on slow, it would be much better.
Unfortunately there are no other controls other than listed in Mouse and Accessibility. In Accessibility you can setup to use keyboard keys for the mouse functions - those might meet your needs better than trying alter an environmental setting.
