Synch problems

OK, here's the issue:

1. I noticed that I had four App updates on my iPhone

2. I connected and synched my iPhone with my Mac's iTunes

3. the Apps also appeared here under Apps/Updates, from where I updated them all

4. then I resynched with my iPhone

Result? Updates are STILL showing up on my iPhone, as if they'd never been downloaded/installed!! I refuse to download them again; why should I? There's got to be a solution to getting these updates from Mac to iPhone

Oh, and I have restarted my iPhone, twice, to no avail.

Hope someone may have a solution
