I keep getting adsmatte pop ups even after blocking pop-ups in my preferences. Not sure if this is a virus and if this is dangerous. It starts when I click a link or fill a field.

I keep getting admsmatte popup window which then directs that window to goo.gl.com. I not sure what this does, but this happens when I click on links and while filling the fields in some sites. Just not comfortable with this.

I assume you have adware. Follow the instructions on this web page in order to manually remove adware from your mac: https://support.apple.com/en-us/HT203987

You may also find adware removal guide on this page http://www.thesafemac.com/arg-identification/

If you do not want to remove adware manually use adware medic tool in order to scan and remove it: http://www.adwaremedic.com/

Download, open adwaremedic dmg file , and run it by clicking “Scan for Adware” button to remove adware.

Once done, quit AdwareMedic and restart your mac.

Install adblock for your browser: https://adblockplus.org/
