Q: html5 widget media error
I'm trying to create an html5 widget for iBooks Author to display captions on a video clip. When I try to add the widget to the book I'm drafting in iBooks Author, I get the message "The HTML5 widget wasn’t added because it contains a media file that isn’t in a supported format."
I have a draft in iBooks Author with a 20 sec .mp4 clip; video clip displays and plays in Author, and on my iPhone when I review the book from Author to the phone. The only media in the widget is the same .mp4 clip.
The video clip needs captions to explain what's happening. At the moment the clip has captions baked into the video, which I understand is unsatisfactory for a number of reasons.
The only way I can find to expose the text of the captions so that a human reader can change font, font size and so on is to use webvtt in the html5 widget, and overlay the caption text on the video. I've tested the pieces that make up the widget in Safari, and it works, but I'd prefer more control over styling the captions.
Has anyone had the same error message, and can you tell me how you fixed it please?
If you have a different solution, can you please provide a brief description?
Thanks
MacBook Pro, OS X Mountain Lion (10.8.5)

I determined that my problem was related to the Default.png file. I recreated it, and I do not get that error message any more. Strange that the Default@2x.png was not a problem too.
