Facetime not connecting on Mac

Have Facetime on iphone6 and ipad working fine. Have purchased a refurbished MacBook Unibody 2009/10 using OS X Lion 10.7.5.

On the Mac Facetime tries to connect and calls and shows connecting but then drops out. Tried setting up a new account but no luck either.

Any suggestion as to what the problem might be. Thanks
