iPod Touch won't respond after updating to iOS 8.4

So...Last night I decided to update my iPod Touch software to iOS 8.4 since I was syncing my new music purchases with my computer. This morning, my iPod won't respond. I thought that somehow it might have drained the battery last night, but when I plug in the cable and try to charge it...Nada. I have had this iPod for a couple of year now and haven't had one problem with it. Now, it won't do anything. Why is this happening? I can only think that there are some bugs in the new software and they need to determine what they are and fix them.

Any suggestions?

Thank you,

Jim

Try to reset your device. This won't delete your data stored on the phone.

  • Press and hold the Sleep/Wake button
  • Press and hold on the Home button
  • Keep holding both buttons until the display turns off and back on with Apple logo on it.

Alternatively, you may go to Settings - General - Reset - Reset All Settings

https://support.apple.com/en-us/HT201559

If this does not help, restore your device to factory settings. Note that this will erase the data from your device.

Take a look this Apple Support article: Use iTunes to restore your iPhone, iPad, or iPod to factory settings - Apple Support.

Thanks. I was able to get it to come back to life by holding down the Sleep/Wake and the Home buttons. Never had this happen before and it had me worried since I know that there have been times in the past when people have updated software and bad things have happened. But...I never update software without first backing up my iPod 🙂.

Thanks again...Jim

Yes...That was correct. I couldn't go into the settings since it wouldn't "turn-on". I started digging around the posts after I posted my question and saw a post you provided to someone else regarding the reset. So, I was in the process of trying that when "thunderzzz" posted what to do.

Thanks to both of you..... Still makes me wonder why my iPod went "dead" after I updated software?
