I think XLD might be able to do it. You can also look into Audacity.

Are there any problems with either Xld or Audacity that you're aware of? Thanks for the reply.
Not that I know if. XLD is well supported and tends to be my favorite conversion tool. The user interface is a bit strange because pretty much all settings have to be done in preferences, and there are a lot of them (making it pretty powerful).
Search for a free app called Max. I use this and it's fast and reliable. In a pinch, Roxio Toast will do it too.
Thanks
If you have access to a Windows system then Foobar2000 is an excellent solution for this - supports other/older lossless formats including Shorten and APE as well as FLAC.
Switch is a great Mac App for converting music files. I've used it for years. It is uncomplicated and fast when it comes to converting.
XLD is the bees knees
I downloaded XLD but my OS X Yosemite won't allow me to open it, so Ill likely have to pay for Switch on the App Store. Any suggestions on actually loading XLD on my iMac?
What exact error message are you seeing? Something about Gatekeeper? Maybe the developer is a small operator and doesn't want to have to pay for Apple to sign it. I am sure there are ways to get around this (maybe something as simple as saying "yes"). I using an older operating system version from a wilder and freer age of Apple computing so I don't have any problems running it.
