Do we really need to pay $29 to Chat with an Apple Support person?

Just to chat with an Apple support, it says $29. Am I losing it here or what?

All I want to know is how much will it cost me to replace my hard disk drive.

iMac (21.5-inch Late 2009), Mac OS X (10.6.7)

Well, fortunately I was running 10.10.4. Apple used to update OS info in the Community Forums whenever I upgraded, but I guess we have to do that ourselves now.

So now that we have established which OS I am running, I don't know what you are smoking, but a Hard Drive costs between $50 to $500 for what I want. But I wanted to see how much Apple would charge to replace mine, since it needs to be about the same type of drive due to the heating sensors etc.

A refurbished iMac like mine will cost at least $800, and that is for a basic bare minimum hardware.

I have used a LOT of manufacturers support and I can assure you that Apple has some of the finest support in the world. When you call the Apple contact number just let them know you have a sales related or sale support type question. You will directed to a sales support person who will answer your question for free and give you a price on replacing your hard drive. You can find the proper contact number(s) here.
