Late Mac Book 2008 maximize Ram and Hard Drive and recommendations ?

I have a late 2008 Mac Book and just upgraded to Yosmite .My 160 gb hard drive is pretty full and needs upgrading. What is the Max hard drive I can get and does apple sell one?

I see 6 GB may be the max ram I can upgade to per another post ; is that correct? (i know there is a few differences between early and late models)

As well:

I will comment on batteries. I replaced this one for my 2008 Mac Book once so far. I researched and bought off the web an "A quality battery" for about 3/4 of the price as Apples replacement battery. The replacement is just around 2 years old and dwindling fast. My point is that doing it again I would buy the Apple battery because they just give you so much more years of life in comparison. The value would have been there in my case to pay that little bit more.

MacBook, OS X Yosemite (10.10.4)

FIrst, regarding the battery, you may have a hard time finding an OEM Apple battery, they don't seem to have them listed on the online store anymore. You might be able to get one at your local Apple Store.

The late 2008 Aluminum model can accommodate 8GB of ram. The early 2008 plastic model can only accommodate 6GB. Determine which you have and buy ram from either OWC http://eshop.macsales.com/ or Crucial http://www.crucial.com/ Avoid other vendors and brands that claim their ram is mac specific, it isn't.

For an unbelievable speed boost replace the spinning hard drive with an SSD. Again consider OWC as the source, they are mac specialists.

Adding more ram and installing an SSD will make your MacBook feel like a new machine. I strongly recommend OWC for both upgrades and a new battery.
