After update iTunes won't connect after update

iTunes downloaded and installed an iTunes update this morning, and at the same time an update to the OS installed on my iPhone 6.


Phone is working fine - no issues that I can see.


iTunes connects to my phone and syncs without proble. iTunes opens the Store no problem. But when I have it check for updates it says it cannot connect to the network.


I've restarted the pc a couple of times. Network settings are fine and did not change from when iTunes downloaded the update. Seems that something in this update either failed or it's a bad update.


Instructions from Apple insist that this is a network setting problem. What the heck do I do?

Should I reinstall iTunes from scratch?
