I understand your mouse stops working while in use. Did this happen while using a specific program or make any recent changes to your Mac? I would start with the troubleshooting steps in the article below as they may help resolve this issue. If this is our Magic Mouse, try power cycling the Magic Mouse and test with new batteries.
