cant log in

I was in the process of resetting my ipad but it is requesting the apple id that was used to set the previous system. i am told that it was locked for security purposes. I cannot remember the answers to authentication questions or email address that was used. Is there any other way to retrieve this information? The ipad is not stolen or was it found.
