why does my upload take so long?

I am transferring all my pictures 27,000 of them from my macbook pro to icloud but its taking a really long time. its taken 4 days to do 6,000. when the macbook shuts down/goes to sleep the transfer stops.

is there any way of speeding up the transfer?

is there any way of making the transfer continue even when the macbook goes to sleep? for example over night?

MacBook Pro (13-inch Late 2011)

Set the macbook not to sleep. The initial transfer is slow, you have no option but patience.

System Preferences > energy saver

Set to never but remember to put it back when complete, if you want to.
