Trash won't completely empty

i have a 2012 MacBook Pro with a solid state hard drive running the current Yosemite software. After securely trashing many duplicate files the result of which were fa result of viruses, there are quite a few files that won't empty from the trash. I have added additional files to the trash most of which empty, but some of them won't empty either.
