Beware pop up Chat Window from Apple Rep, Fake?

Was just surfing online when suddenly everything slowed down severely (the spinning ball syndrome) and page wasn't loading at usual speed when suddenly a Live Chat window opened from Apple Support with a Rep ( pic incl. ) asking if I was experiencing problems with my Mac? He then pointed out that he could see where I was located. When I didn't immediately respond, he asked if anyone was there? I replied I was grabbing a pic then he logged off. He suggested I call a 1 855 number which I couldn't find on the Apple website support pages.

I wanted to include images, but as usual for Apple, their image inserter is ****. Yes, I made sure images were following guidelines...
