Hardware Diagnostic tools: (see picture) holding D key at boot gives black screen w/ spinning globe on top of wi-fi network drop down menu?
I have been trying to troubleshoot a crash problem on my Early 13' MBP. Prior to doing a fresh install of Yosemite, I did the basic hardware troubleshoot, including running Apple Hardware Diagnostic Tools, Verify/Repair disks, Reset RAM parameters, ran MemTest, and none of these indicated any problems. So I did a clean install of the operating system.
After doing a fresh install of Yosemite off of a bootable disk, the same crashing problem has not gone away. During a variety of tasks it will freeze and restart w/ no spinning beachball, no ability to force quit. One of the helpful members of this support community suggested that I most likely have a hardware problem if the clean install didn't fix the crashes, so I am trying to test my hardware components again to see if anything turns up this time around, but I can't seem to access the apple hardware diagnostic tool anymore. I press D during startup, like has worked for me just a few days ago on this computer, but instead of the diagnostic tools I am met with a black screen; in the middle of the black screen is a grey spinning globe with a wi-fi network drop down list. When I let that run it, the globe stops w/ a caution sign over it and below it says, "apple.com/support -2002D" See pics below.
Any ideas on what's happening? Also, any other suggestions for general hardware tests that might help me track down my problem? Thank you.
