ipad mini getting hot

Got this years ipad mini with wifi, 16gig and it gets hot when I use it for 30 or so minutes. Never had that with my last mini. Very uncomfortable to hold or sit on lap at that point. It does this on wifi and not connected to the net at all. Seems I'm not the only one wondering if Apple has a battery issue. Only buy Apple cell phones, desk top and ipads. Wish they would fess up if there is a battery issue before someone gets hurt or my mini stop running. I expect more from Apple!

Hello birdlady55,

After reviewing your post, it sounds like the iPad you have gets hot and is uncomfortable use. The exterior of the iPad is used to help cool the device and will occasionally feel warm to the touch and will disable some functionality to protect the interior of the device. The following article provides information about how the iPad functions in extreme temperatures and how it will protect itself by disabling functionality.

Although warm temperatures can be normal, if you are still concerned by the temperature of the iPad, you can further isolate the issue by backing up your iPad and restoring it to factory settings to test the behavior.
