My photos are being saved in the "Other" category

On my iPhone 5 iOS 8.4, I have 4.4 gb for my photos under settings. On itunes when i go to sync the photos are only 436 mb. While the "other" tab is a whopping 6.5 gb! Why is my phone saving/ displaying my photos in the other tab? Is there anyway to restore them to be back on the photos section. I already restored my phone multiple times and it still won't work.

More info if it helps: iTunes latest version, iPhone 5 iOS 8.4, and Windows 7.

That didn't do anything. My "other" category is 6 gb while my photos are 430mb. It seems as that itunes doesn't recognize my photos as photos.

If you did ALL of the steps in that tip your iPhone's memory is corrupted. You will need to restore iOS using iTunes.

That's the thing, I have completed multiple restores since this issue has started (since ios 8.2)

Then you will have to restore iOS and set up the phone as New. Do not restore your backup. The backup contains the data corruption.

Copy your photos to your computer. Or enable iCloud photos. Likewise for your contacts.
