Syncing with a new MacBook removed all of my contacts/calendar info -- is there any way to restore the data?

So you synced your iPhone with a new computer and now your contacts and calendar information are gone. You want to know if you can get that information back. Is that right?
Was there a backup made of the iPhone before syncing? If an iCloud backup was made, or an iTunes backup that you still have access to on the old computer, you can restore it. Use the steps in this article - Restore your device from an iCloud or iTunes backup - Apple Support
Were the calendars and contacts previously using iCloud for their information? If so that information may still be there. Set up iCloud on the iPhone using steps on this page - Apple - iCloud - Learn how to set up iCloud on all your devices.
