ipod touch 4th generation will not turn on, and itunes is not recognizing it.

I tried the whole holding the power and home key and nothing happened. Is there anything else i can try? Ive got alot of important things on it and really need it to turn back on. Thank you

it is possible that the battery has totally died. A fourth gen has to be several years old.


Have you tried to leave it on the charger for a few hours to see if it can run? Or have you tried a different charger or cable to see if that's the issue (cable isn't working so your battery won't charge)


if the battery has run totally down it may take an hour or more for it to come back.

Try:

- iOS: Not responding or does not turn on

- Also try DFU mode after try recovery mode

How to put iPod touch / iPhone into DFU mode « Karthik's scribblings

- If not successful and you can't fully turn the iOS device fully off, let the battery fully drain. After charging for an least an hour try the above again.

- Try another cable

- Try on another computer

- If still not successful that usually indicates a hardware problem and an appointment at the Genius Bar of an Apple store is in order.

Note that Restoring the iPod erases it.
