ibook Clamshell modem shield

Do I need to put the modem shield back on when reassembling a clamshell and what could happen if you don't

The shielding usually is there to protect the circuitry from interference caused by

proximity to other frequencies that may adversely affect a computers function...

Others mention trying the computer without. The issue may also relate to

any interference the iBook may generate affecting other products nearby.

Can I leave out the EMI shield?

So the recommendation would be to replace the missing shield even if you do not

intend on using the internal dial-up modem, as other connections may be exposed.

Good luck & happy computing! 🙂
