Unknown Error (1417)

When I try to update my 5th gen ipod to version 1.2, after a period of time the updating stops and I get "unable to update - unknown error (1417). Can anyone help?

IPOD, Windows XP, AMD XP 1700

I have the same exact problem. Let me ask you though, are you having a lot of other problems with your ipod? Has it just being doing the craziest stuff lately?

Yes, I converted a music video on iTunes and then transferred it to my iPod. The video picture is great, but there is no sound!?

Quicktime, Quicktime Pro and iTunes don't convert "muxed" ( muxed means multiplexed where the audio and video are stored on the same track) video files properly. It only plays the video and not the audio.

See: iPod plays video but not audio.

You need a 3rd party converter to convert the file with both audio and video.

Thanks for the link Jeff, the idea there did solve my problem with the updating, but not exactly in the way described! I did not get the message that it was safe to remove the hardware(iPod), but I let things continue and the next thing I know the iPod had successfully updated to 1.2!? Cheers
