Q: how do you check for viruses on your computer? I got a pop up that said my computer may have a virus and needs to be scanned.

I keep getting a pop up that says my computer may have a virus. How do I know if I have one and how do I fix it?

iPhone 6 Plus, iOS 8.3

    That popup is a scam.

     

    If you’re on a computer, choose Force Quit from the Apple menu, close Safari, and then launch it with the Shift key held down. If the message reappears, temporarily disconnect the computer from the Internet and/or click here and run Adware Medic. If you need to download the tool, doing so may require a different web browser.

    If you’re on an iOS device, click here and follow the instructions in the first paragraph of the last section.
