ARD Task Server denial of service - repeated crashing of com.apple.RemoteDesktop.agent - solution

Just a heads up to people who will no doubt be in the same situation. When using ARD Task Server to send certain bad packages (i.e. 'Install Wacom Tablet.pkg') to clients for auto-install, this will crash the Task Server and it will never recover. In the ARD admin console the Task Server will get an unavailable icon next to it.

In the system logs for the Task Server, you will see repeated entries like this:

com.apple.xpc.launchd[1]: (com.apple.RemoteDesktop.agent[44761]) Service exited due to signal: Segmentation fault: 11

This will happen forever, and eventually will cause other services on OSX server to fail, (probably due to process table issues.)

The solution is to delete the contents of /Library/Application Support/Apple/Remote Desktop/Task Server/

... after which it will recover. On the ARD admin console workstation you should 'End Task' the Task Server job, then restart the ARD admin software.

Observed on OSX 10.10.4 Server as Task Server with ARD 3.8, and OSX 10.10.4 admin workstation / ARD 3.8.

I have logged a bug report with Apple.
