Q: deleting purchased apps

I have a prepaid Iphone 4 . ( Don't know if prepaid makes a difference ) I am able to delete apps from the phone screen , but when I go to apps-update-purchased , every app I have ever downloaded is there. There must be 100 of them that I never use. How can I get rid of these unused apps ?

Those cannot be deleted, but can be hidden via iTunes on a computer: Hide and unhide purchases in the iTunes Store - Apple Support
They are not actually on the device, BTW.

Do the apps appear on the iPhone? If you deleted them from the iPhone they should not be on the phone itself, but they will still be listed in your app store purchases - that allows you to download them again should you want to do so.
