I have a imac 24" with 2 gb of RAM. I want to upgrade to 4 GB of RAM. Can I do it or do I need to take it to the mac store? Where do I buy the RAM?

I want to upgrade the RAM in my 24" IMac. Can I do it? I believe I can upgrade to 4 GB. Does this have to be done at the apple store?

It does not have to be done at an Apple store, nor is it something Apple stores normally do.

You can buy appropriate ram from vendors such as OWC or Crucial and install it yourself. Its very simple in your model of iMac:
