how to delete downloaded music from iPhone 5s

I'm an iTunes Match subscriber, so I have access to all of my music wherever I go. The issue I'm having is there is quite a bit of music that is downloaded to my phone, and I can't seem to delete it so I can make some room on the phone. I'm using the new iTunes 12.2. I clicked on the icon for my phone, and then to the music on the device. I tried highlighting and right-clicking to delete the music, but it's just not doing anything. I want to control what is downloaded vs what I stream from iCloud, but I can't seem to get a handle on this. Is anyone else having this issue?

iTunes Match is a download based stream service unlike the full stream service from Apple Music. Unless the song was originally downloaded, it was cached if you just played it. These don't show up in your memory area of settings under Manage Data. Thus, I advise downloading these songs (a small bookmark will appear next to the track), then you can fully delete. The only other way to clear cached music is to reset your device which is a bigger problem. Let me know if you have further questions.
