laptop MacBook Pro faltered when trying to restart after initializing download.

when initializing latest update, 10.10.1,after 5+ minutes, MacBook Pro shut down, but faltered when trying to restart. Had to do a hard shut down for it to come back. The following installation took a long time.

MacBook Pro (13-inch Early 2011), osx 10.10.1
