Question

Hiberfil.sys

have a windows 7 partion on my mac mini. Recently, windows got stuck in hibernation and eventually got into the "windows resume loader". From here I have two options to either continue or delete, but I cant use my keyboard. And I cant go into the BIOS settings either, so I tried searching around to see if anyone had a solution. What I found was that I had to delete Hiberfil.sys in bootcamp and then restart the computer and go from there.

However, I cannot seem to find the hiberfil.sys anywhere in the Bootcamp folder in my mac partion, so any help would be greatly appreciated.

Mac mini, OS X Mavericks (10.9.4), Late 2012, i7, 1TB, 8gb ram.

Please turn off Hibernate (which should delete hiberfil.sys) - https://support.microsoft.com/en-us/kb/920730 .

You can also do this under Control Panel -> Power Options.

Yeah I would try that, but unfortunately I cant get anywhere as Im stuck on the loader for hibernation that its trying to recover on the windows partion. So I have nowhere to go from there.

Can you boot your Mini in Windows Safe Mode? Hibernate causes the drivers to be no loaded correctly, which includes your keyboard and mouse.

Sadly not, it just starts up immediatly on the windows resume loader screen. No startup logo, cant get into safe mode either.

This is a round-about method. Download Paragon NTFS for Mac trial. This will allow read-write access to the Bootcamp partition from the OSX side. Delete hiberfil.sys from the OSX side and try to boot Windows.

This is the control panel for Paragon NTFS. Can you use Finder and open your Bootcamp folder and look for hiberfil.sys ?

On my MBP in the /Volumes/BOOTCAMP , from OSX Terminal...
