Bluetooth scanning, is it possible?!

I have a Canon MP600 all-in-one printer, scanner, copier etc. It is allegedly bluetooth enabled. I cannot get the bluetooth to work properly. I have plugged in the Bluetooth device, and my ibook recognises it and will print, but will not scan. When I try to scan I get an error that says I must plug in the USB cable. When I plug in the USB cable to my Airport, it still doesn't work. The error says the computer and the scanner can't communicate. When I plug the computer directly into the printer/scanner, the scanner works just fine. Is this normal!?

It seems to me that this printer is NOT FULLY COMPATIBLE with Mac. If that's the case, why do they sell me this printer at an Apple Store?

Someone please help.

PS: Yes, I've deleted and reinstalled all of the drivers with the latest versions.

Hi, Spencerian6. Nowhere in Canon's manual for the MP600 is it suggested that scanning via BlueTooth is a possibility. The BlueTooth-related instructions all pertain only to printing. To scan, connect the machine directly to your Mac with a USB cable.

The only scanning devices I've heard of that can send data to a computer via BlueTooth are handheld barcode scanners. These transmit very tiny amounts of data. The amount of data created when scanning an image or an 8.5 x 11" page is enormous by comparison, and probably can't be transmitted fast enough via BlueTooth to make BlueTooth scanning practicable.

Elsewhere in this forum, Ian Bickerstaffe is struggling to get his MP600 to print via BlueTooth. Since that's working OK for you, maybe you could drop in on Ian's thread and compare notes with him.

EDIT: Oops, now I see you've already been there. But you told him you were having the same problem he is, and that isn't true: he can't print via BlueTooth, and you can. Please try to figure out with him what the difference is between your setups for printing purposes, so he can at least use his MP600 for printing. Using it for scanning via BlueTooth is, as I suggested above, out of the question.
