I'm just learning Logic Pro X. My program does not have a "Function" button on the audio editor menu bar. Do I need to turn it on somewhere?

MacBook Pro, OS X Mountain Lion (10.8.1)

You mean a Functions menu?

Yes, you should probably check that your Advanced Tools are enabled.

Logic Pro>Preferences>Advanced Tools…

Also make sure you are looking at the correct tab:
