Jul 10, 2015 3:59 PM in response to George Hiltonby léonie,, can I now get rid of all the photos in Photo and reimport from Aperture along with their Meta data?
You can drag and drop your Aperture library onto the Photos icon. That will migrate the Aperture library to Photos. Do you have enough storage on the drive with the Aperture Library to migrate another library? Test the migrated library, then trash the old Photos Library.
Photos does not migrate many metadata tags, but the GPS should migrate correctly. At least, for my images the locations were transferred correctly. But my original files are all stamped with GPS tags.
Photos will migrate the locations, the Faces, the ratings as keywords, the version names as titles, the descriptions.

Jul 11, 2015 12:05 AM in response to léonieby George Hilton,Hi Leonie
Thanks, all the photos in Photo are GPS with where I live and not with the GPS where they were taken around the world but are in Aperture. Is it OK to drop the aperture library over the Photo icon even without taking any thing out of Photo then see if the GPS have been updated or will it make a totally new library alongside the one in Photo because I don't understand trash the old Photo library?

Jul 11, 2015 12:30 AM in response to George Hiltonby léonie,Photos does not merge libraries like Aperture could. When you drop your Aperture library onto the Photos icon a new Photos library will be created. You will have the old Photos Library, the Aperture Library will have a new filename extension "Aperture Library.migratedaplibrary", and the new photos library will have the same name as your aperture library, but with the extension ".photoslibrary".
The new Photos Library will use hard links to your Aperture library for the original image files and previews to save space. (Photos saves disk space by sharing images with your iPhoto or Aperture libraries - Apple Support)
If having three libraries is causing storage problems you can delete the Photos library you are currently using, if it does not hold any photos you need to keep. The hard links will work nevertheless.
To open your Aperture library again in Aperture double click the library and press the button "Open Aperture". See: If Photos won't open a library that you already migrated - Apple Support
