"hey siri" activates when I hit a golf ball

When I hit a ball during golf, Hey Siri activates. I tried to recreate the problem with practice swing but no issue. This problem arises consistently. I suspect either the sound or the shock of hitting the golf ball creates the conditions where Hey Siri activiate. I cannot wear my Watch when I play golf. As such, I do not use the golf Watch app nor able to track my Activity.

great..I will move away from my wrist. Did not know the crown activated Siri..

You know 2Dtu, the solution to your problem came to me while out riding today. My glove (left hand) would have the habit of pressing against the crown in certain positions resting on the handlebar. It was no big deal but I thought: why not change the Watch crown orientation to the left side? That change takes all of two seconds. Reversing the band took longer than that.

The result? Immediate improvement in ways I did not expect. Bending my wrist no longer causes contact with the crown. The speaker and microphone are now in an ideal position, if you raise your left hand to listen and speak. Pressing the crown seems more natural using my right thumb, whereas pressing the upper right side of the Watch with my right index finger always caused the band to twist. Scrolling is perfect. The digital crown is probably better protected from damage that way. Many ergonomic design elements somehow seem to have suddenly fallen into place.

Why didn't I think of this before?

Try it. If nothing else it is certain to solve your Hey Siri problem.

This answer is completely unsatisfactory. I golf with my watch and use the Golfshot app all the time. The only time that SIRI acts badly is when I'm on the practice range. Usually it just thumps endlessly, saying that it didn't understand me; last week it started playing music; today it called 911 by way of the Med Emergency feature. Plus...I have SIRI turned off on the watch. I solve the problem by taking my watch off at the practice range, and then wearing it again when I start playing golf.

I doubt it's the sound of hitting the ball. Siri will activate upon pressing and holding the digital crown for about a half second. It's probably being pressed against your wrist differently when you actually make contact with the ball vs. taking a practice swing.

You may have discovered a potential use of that feature. I suggest you capitalize on it before someone else does.

That may be the only downside, but it's not much different than using your thumb for the digital crown.

When I first saw the arrangement of buttons its asymmetry struck me as being glaringly un-Apple. I thought it would be more consistent with Apple's design philosophy if the crown were placed in the middle, with the button in the middle of the opposite side. That way, left-handed users wearing it on the right wrist (for example) would enjoy exactly the same appearance and functions as right-handed users, but reversed. The orientation with the crown opposite the wrist now makes me think they devoted more thought to the design than I had originally assumed.

Scrolling through messages (for example) with my left thumb tends to shield the right side of the Watch from onlookers also.

It's an odd orientation only if users are for having a crown in its "traditional" place but leave it to Apple to break tradition. There is no logical reason it has to be there. After using it even for a short time I think the digital crown makes a lot more sense on the elbow side of the Watch... at least for me.
