Q: CD seems stuck in disk drive in G5, causes immediate crash

On an upgraded G5 running an earlier version of OS X, I tried to burn a DVD using Toast 10. Something went wrong, and the burn did not conclude. When I tried to eject the disc, I got an error message that the disc was unreadable. I did a restart, but when I tried to eject the disc the system crashed, and I was forced to unplug and try again. However, when I started up after plugging in, computer crashed as soon as the desktop came up. I forgot how to open the drive when I can't use the eject function on the computer.

PowerMac G5, Mac OS X (10.5.8)

Try holding down the mouse button while starting the computer.

If Allan's suggestion doesn't work, you can slide the door down by hand & use a straitened Paper Clip to shove in the tiny almost invisible hole to eject it.

Thanks, Allan, I had already tried that and either I didn't wait long enough (about 5 minutes of blue screen) or it didn't work. I found a solution on YouTube, namely holding down the option button during boot up and then pressing the eject key.

Thanks, BDAqua, never got to that point, found a solution on YouTube (see my reply to Allan Jones). I love Apple community, which I haven't used for many years, it's still churning out responses within minutes of posting the problem.
