How set up Apple TV in a wired network

Knowing there is an ethernet port on the AppleTV, is it possible to use wired ethernet to connect a mac to TV instead of AirPlay ( wireless ) through AppleTV !?

The main idea is to display the viewer screen of " FCPX " through the gigabit ethernet on a TV set instead of the AirPlay !?

iMac, Mac OS X (10.6.8), i7, 2GiG Video card, 24 GiG RAM,

I've done it again !

Yes I meant to post this in FCPX. I had multiple Safari windows open on the subject and I assumed I was posting in FCPX.

Mean while, now that I have your attention, Is it possible to get similar (or better ) functionality from AppleTv by connecting it a Gigabit wired network rather than a wireless network if the streaming videos on a given HD TV is the goal ?

Well, according to this: Apple Support Communities / Professional Applications / Final Cut Pro X

we are in FCPX area, aren't we !?

Yes, but your inquiry is not about FCPX. It's about your Apple TV, your Macintosh hardware, and hooking up multiple displays. Once you figure out how to get your Apple TV to work on ethernet as an extension of your desktop, guys like Russ will be able to help you get it work as a display for FCPX.
