Emptying trash doesn't delete

When I empty my trash, it shows in the trash that it deleted ( theres nothing there ) but when I go into 'About My Mac' and into the 'Storage' tab, it shows i didn't delete anything. The 'Backups' portion is getting larger. Please help..

I would urge you to re-read the two links I posted. In essence, the backup will be deleted by the OSX if space is needed for other data so that they do not pose a real problem filling the HDD space.


If you turn Time Machine off, the backups will start to be deleted.
