Share Calendar with Windows Users

I want to create a calendar that will contain appointments I have coming up. I

want my family, most of whom are not Apple Mac users, to be able to see that calendar and the appointments in it.

I'm reasonably sure this used to be possible before Yosemite.

How do I set that up ?

MacBook Pro, OS X Yosemite (10.10.2), (13-inch, Mid 2012)

Create a Google email account and use the Google Calendar. Login to the Google account under Preferences -> Internet Accounts and turn on the Calendar. Then it will show up in the Mac Calendar. You can access it on iOS devices as well. You can then share with Android users and Windows users. The Google Calendar is less restricted on sharing and has a public mode and a private mode.

You'll need to manage the sharing of the Google Calendar from the web interface http://google.com/calendar

To Share a calendar outside of your home, you would need a server somewhere that would host it. There isn't a way to share a calendar that is on your Mac with the world because the world cannot see into your network.

So, you can share via iCloud or you can host your calendar on a CalDAV capable server.

Your family would need a CalDAV capable client to view the calendar unless the hosting environment had a web-based display.

For a CalDAV server, they would need accounts on the same server.

A shared iCloud calendar can be viewed at www.icloud.com. For that they would need an iCloud account. You can also share a public calendar which is read-only by everyone. I'm not sure what it takes to view that.
