How do I Delete original video and photo files in Photos 1.0?

Hello

When I create a smart folder to show me all movie files, I'd like to delete them and the original media file, but I'm not sure how to do that.

My plan is to export all video files to a folder and move it to an external drive. Then remove all those same video files from my iphoto library. In the old iPhoto, I could simply flag the files, then delete from the flagged icon. but ton this software I can't tell.

I don't want to get into a situation where I've deleted the aliases but are stuck with a bloated library file with videos that I no longer use.

Any ideas are welcomed!

Assuming a default managed library select them and right click - select to delete "n" photos (or videos)

this will move them to the recently deleted album (file menu ==> recently deleted) where they will be deleted in 30 days or you can delete sooner if you choose

Does this also delete the original media file in the Photos Library? In the old iPhoto, if you deleted from an album or smartest, it only removed it from that list, but kept the file in the library.

I'm trying get more hard drive space by deleting the videos from my iPhoto Library.

If that delete does both, I'm good to go.

In the old iPhoto, if you deleted from an album or smartest, it only removed it from that list, but kept the file in the library.

That was true, if you used "remove from Album". If you delete from the album, the photo will also be trashed in iPhoto.

In Photos use the key combination command-delete ⌘⌫ . Then the photo will be deleted and not just removed from an album. The photo will be moved to the Recently deleted album, no matter if you are deleting from an album or a moment.

The original media files in the Library will be deleted, when you empty the "recently deleted" album.

Using the command I specified "Delete 'n' videos" (or "Delete 'n' photos") totally deletes the video or photos as I answered your question

If you instead used the remove "n" videos (or photos) or album does not delete them but only removes them form the album leaving them in your library

Assuming a default managed library select them and right click - select delete "n" photos (or videos)
