SInce "upgrading" to OS 10.10.4 my Macbook Pro 13" will no longer connect to my external monitor/TV via HDMI. Tested cable and adapter, both OK. Reset NVram and SMC multiple times, no effect. Option clicked to "Detect Display" no response. Clearly something with the update broke this capability. Any ideas?

MacBook, OS X Yosemite (10.10.4)

Suddenly having same problem with 10.11.3. Have done all PRAM SMC resets etc. HDMI cable and TV work fine with Windows PCs. Very hard to believe this problem is so common with Macs.

Thanks but I had already found this page by myself and had tried the recommended steps before posting to the user forums. Still no detection. What baffles me is how can it work one evening and then not work at all the next day on the same exact cable and TV?
