Unfortunately, GutenPrint does not support the
printer (nor most laser printers.) This particular
Samsung model is a network printer, so I don't see
why it shouldn't work with its own proprietary
driver. HP printers use the PCL language, but I've
never had a problem using them on or off networks.
The stock ML-2250 is not a network printer according to the
Samsung specs. The optional Ethernet connectivity does then make it technically a ML-2251N. Perhaps the ML-2251N Samsung driver will work with a stock ML-2250. I don't know. It is interesting that
Samsung download center does not list any Mac drivers for the stock ML-2250. I would be happy to learn if the stock ML-2250 can use the ML-2251N drivers that were just posted 2006-08-24.
The Samsung specs do show that the ML-2250 uses the PCL 6 language. It should therefore work with the Generic PCL 6 driver found either in the Gutenprint or
hpijs drivers. A quick search of this forum shows that it will also work with the ML-2150 driver in the hpijs package. It looks like it can also use the
pxlmono driver.
