i looked at the links u provided but neither mentions "archiving" the backup and if it is actually necessary
basically i want to know if an unarchived backup will restore my phone if i need to roll back the OS

Jul 9, 2015 10:10 PM in response to wickedmermaidby SergZak,Without archiving the backup in some way, it may get overwritten while you are running iOS 9. If it does, you won't be able to revert back to that backup as it will only be eligible for iOS 9

Jul 10, 2015 7:01 AM in response to wickedmermaidby turingtest2,To archive an iOS backup using iTunes for Windows backup the device, then immediately restore the backup you've just made. The current backup will be archived with the date and time of the restore and a new rolling backup created for the device.
