Q: Trouble archiving my iphone backup

I want to install the public ios9 beta - following the instructions apple gave:

When the backup is complete, go to iTunes > Preferences > Devices.
Find your device’s backup and Control-click the backup. Choose Archive.

Itunes is installed on my PC... when i control + click nothing happens

my backup is on my pc but it is not archived... is it still safe to use the beta?

Archiving your iTunes backup in iTunes only applies on the Mac. On the PC side you need to follow a different method:

thanks for your reply

i looked at the links u provided but neither mentions "archiving" the backup and if it is actually necessary

basically i want to know if an unarchived backup will restore my phone if i need to roll back the OS

Without archiving the backup in some way, it may get overwritten while you are running iOS 9. If it does, you won't be able to revert back to that backup as it will only be eligible for iOS 9

To archive an iOS backup using iTunes for Windows backup the device, then immediately restore the backup you've just made. The current backup will be archived with the date and time of the restore and a new rolling backup created for the device.
